History

The Måløy raid, codenamed “Operation Archery”, was an Allied commando attack on the German occupation forces stationed in Måløy. The raid involved troops from five co-untries: Britain, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Norway. It was the first combined operation bringing together the army, navy and air force in a coordinated attack. The meticulously planned operation was central to Winston Churchill’s campaign of resistance against Hitler. Churchill described the Måløy raid as “A Letter to Hitler”.
